SPIRITUAL LIFE | Community Service
GOING THE EXTRA MILE PROGRAMThe "Going the Extra Mile" program is a voluntary program designed to encourage student stewardship of their God-given gifts in service. Those who participate and reach the suggested minimum goal of 100 hours during their time at Westside receive recognition in the form of a medallion which is received at our Annual Awards / Year in Review Program in the spring. These medallions are then worn by the student during graduation ceremonies. The wearing of this medallion demonstrates to all school family members in attendance that the student believes service is important and encourages others to participate as well.

QUARTERLY SERVICE PROJECT
Though individuals can serve anytime and in a variety of ways through the "Going the Extra Mile Program", there are also structured opportunities for them to serve through their class. Each group of class officers typically plans and advertises service opportunities for their class every quarter. These are voluntary events, but provide valuable times for students to link arms with their peers in service.
