Cross Country at Westside is founded on the principles of participation and individual improvement. While we offer an extremely competitive varsity program for those who aspire to compete at the State level, we also encourage students at all levels of fitness and interest to consider joining the team. No one ever "sits on the bench" in Cross Country. Everyone runs at each meet. Due to the nature of distance running, younger students have an opportunity to compete at the varsity level even if they've never run before. As a 3A school we compete in the 3A/2A/1A level at the District and State Meets.

COACHING STAFF
Scott Ball
has served as the head coach since 2001. He previously coached in the Hillsboro School District and spent 8 years as head Cross Country and Track coach at Pacific University. He continues to race in both Cross Country and Track to show students that involvement in distance running can be a life-long activity.

Katie Custis is a former Westside student-athlete and graduate of The Master's College. She focuses her attention on the girls team members. Her involvement since 2001 has greatly enhanced the Cross Country experience for the girls.
