PERFORMING ARTS | Discovering God-given Talents
Left brain, right brain? Westside stimulates both. Discovering unique God-given talents can unlock our imagination and stir us to pause, think, and reflect. At Westside one of our obligations is to awaken and heighten the aesthetic curiosity in every student and to push students, not only to appreciated music, art, and theatre, but also to try their hand at one or more of the creative arts we offer. We are fortunate to have numerous excellent courses and inspired faculty dedicated to this purpose.
Westside offers four theatre courses and a variety of opportunities for students to be involved in two full-length productions and a one-act festival produced annually.
Westside is also blessed with a top-notch choir that has recently earned numerous State Championships and has repeatedly been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. We also offer smaller vocal ensembles, a prasie band, and the ever-popular drumline.
Two levels of visual arts are offered, encouraging artistic exploration through various techniques and media. Our art faculty is noted for challenging students to distinctive achievements.
