Westside offers two levels of art discipline. Basic Design is an entry level art class. The focus for this class is on art fundamentals, color theory, and projects based on learning the Elements and Principles of Design. Advanced Art, utilizing knowledge gained in Basic Design, encourages artistic exploration through various techniques and mediums. The purpose in both basic and advanced classes is to glorify the Lord through developing excellence in visual expression.
In addition to offering a creative outlet for Westside's artistically-minded students, a very real goal is to help form godly young people with real creative integrity and talent. In many cases, the stewardship of this talent has led to advancement in art education at the college level and to careers in art.
